The Macroodelzig - Out Now!

The book is finally out in the world, and I cannot be happier! I've spent a lot of time and energy getting feedback, making promotional posts, and attempting to advertise the book as much as possible this month.

The Macroodelzig is only available from two websites at the moment, but I will make a seperate post of all of the online bookstores in the near future.

Please follow the hashtag, #TheMacroodelzig, on social media and give some feedback on Amazon as and when you can - that would be amazing!

Where to grab the book early:

World Book Day 2019

It's that time again! Happy World Book Day!
As a treat I thought I'd honour the hashtag, #ShareAStory.

This year I haven't dressed up, as my baby bump limits some costumes, so this is the next best thing - I am sharing some lines from my first book, Don't Eat Charlie Cheese! Hooray!

Happy reading!

Charlie Cheese has lots of jobs,
he is a very busy slice.
His bosses try to eat him, though,
they've tried to once or twice.

Charlie went to be a chef, he had to cook a roast.
The chef took out a slice of bread..
"I am not for toast!"

Charlie had a little sulk,
they don't know how he felt!
Charlie started crying,
and then began to melt!

Finish the story and fill in the gaps by grabbing your own copy - search 'Don't Eat Charlie Cheese' on google now!

Are Amazon Book Reviews Important?

Well, are they?

I try to review everything I purchase on Amazon - even if I don't write much, I'll leave some stars.

My children's book series is available on Amazon, but unfortunately, it doesn't have many reviews. I have had to request that customers leave a review in the past, as not everyone does give feedback on Amazon. It's not like I'm asking for great reviews, because that's not the case, and the review would then be null and void for other people checking the books out. I am looking for honest feedback which accurately reflects people's opinions on the books - as this can make or break, and is valid to me.

I do think reviews are important, in a way.
I have had amazing feedback on social media sites, via email, or in person - but they are private reviews and not seen by possible readers, which limits me.
Word of mouth is also incredible to get the news out, but it's not often people find themselves in a discussion about moustache sporting cheese men...

If you do have one of the books, please, please, leave some honest Amazon feedback /
Thanks in advance!

Charlie Cheese : Facebook Milestone

I set up the CC facebook page a long time ago, and after four years, we've just hit 300 likes.

(Knowing my luck when I post this, it'll have gone back down!)

It's been difficult promoting the page on Facebook - you can invite your friends, but not all of them are interested and will decline, or you can create sponsored adverts, for robots and fake pages to give the page likes - which is a pointless exercise.
I don't over post on Facebook, so I'm not a bother, but I will update it fairly frequently when I need to.

Either way, hitting 300 likes is fabulous news!
I'm aiming to promote better, somehow, so we can reach 500 likes before the end of the year - without the help of fake pages and likes.

If you want to help out, give us a like, invite your friends, and share, share, share!

Revisiting A WIP : The Macroodelzig!

I recently revisited a WIP that I began last year - it was to create a Dr Seuss style story.
It's not quite Dr Seuss, but it's definitely a Beffy Parkin!

It's a children's story, loosely based on my dog, Ziggy. She's a naughty, silly but lovable little dog, who doesn't understand boundaries - she is the ideal children's book character!
I have written up The Macroodelzig, and I'm just waiting on illustrations now - so the book should be released this year! Oh yeah, already smashing my 2019 writing challenges!
Revisiting a work in progress will always be rewarding, you need breaks away from your work so it doesn't go stale and you start to hate it - a break allows fresh eyes on a project, and it can have a happy ending - if not, let it rest a little longer!

I'll be going wild promoting The Macroodelzig in the near future, so please share, like, whatever you can!
Keep your eyes peeled!

Cheeky Charlie Cheese C-plug?

I have not plugged my childrens books in a long time and feel today would be ideal.

It's almost Halloween and Tommings made a lovely cartoon of Charlie dressed up a few years ago, and I love it.
Ideally, I'd like to make seasonal and festive CC books, this is something I've definitely put a pin in before, so it could be good to make a start on the Christmas version soon.. Hmm..

Anyway, you can purchase Don't Eat Charlie Cheese and Charlie Cheese Travels The World on Waterstones, Amazon, and loooooads more online book stores!

Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss!

As you may know, I love Dr Seuss..

Today is his birthday!

My favourite book growing up was Cat In The Hat, but I love and appreciate all of his books and stories. I even enjoy the films that have been made, ie. The Lorax, is just fantastic.
Fun, rhyming books of nonsense, with a strong story behind, is always a winner in my book!
They are timeless and his work can be enjoyed by all ages.

Fun Fact: I have similar handwriting to Dr Seuss! It doesn't have a significant meaning, but I'm proud of this!

Our First Ever School Visit!

As I said before, Tommings and I got invited to come into a local primary school to talk about the Charlie Cheese Books. Today was the day! It was fantastic, the children asked questions on where we get our ideas from, how long it takes us to write and illustrate, and how reading lots and lots helped our brains get new ideas! We also set a challenge to make their own food characters, all of them were amazing!

Here's some of the ones I remember:
Ogy Orange, Lucy Lettuce, Hassan Hummus, Dennis Doughnut, and for some reason Pizza Pig!

The children drew up their characters, some wrote their own rhyming childrens books, and Tom had illustrated what they were writing about. I'm very pleased with how our first school visit went as the children heard all about the effort and time that goes into writing - and that reading books is super important. We loved each minute of it, and hope to do it again in the future!

Literary Festival - Entered

So, tonight I got tagged in an Instagram post about a commission, for a literary festival that takes place in May (by Tommings, see I told you he was awesome!).
I had to quickly think and put forward my idea as the deadline is the end of the month (if I didn't do it now, I'd get worked up and nervous and it wouldn't get done).
It's a new Charlie Cheese story!
Not to be mistaken with Charlie Cheese And The Food Dance, which I will release, eventually...
I've written up less than half of the story, I know the overall storyline but it needs editing into oblivion and that's what I'll be working on for the next few weeks. I'll know if anything comes of it early February.
Wish me luck!

Charlie Cheese Books - Tommings

I just want to take a moment to share some of the artwork from Charlie Cheese Books.
Charlie has come a long way from being a terrible doodle I sketched, and I have Tommings to thank for that. He put a lot of time and effort into illustrating the Charlie Cheese we have today. And I am delighted with how the illustrations have turned out, I cannot imagine Charlie looking any other way! Thank you so much, Tom!
You can follow Charlie on Facebook and on Twitter - come say hi!

I honestly suggest if anyone needs an illustrator to look into Tommings' work. He's done comics, logos, gig posters and so much more. Go see!

This is from the second book, Charlie Cheese Travels The World. This is where Charlie goes for a bike ride in the desert.
This is from the second book, too. This is where Charlie goes to the beach and gets a little seasick!
This is from the first book, Don't Eat Charlie Cheese, where Charlie is trying to find a job that suits him perfectly, but his boss seems to have other ideas!

Charlie Cheese Books: Charlie Cheese And The Food Dance

The third book, Charlie Cheese And The Food Dance, will be coming soon!
I have been in talks with Tommings (who created the masterpiece above).
I'm posting a little sample of the next book as a little treat!

It's the day before the Food Dance,
but who should Charlie take?
Will it be Arthur Apricot,
or Christopher the Cake?
Charlie looked around the fridge,
"I'll ask Gertie Gherkin!"
"Sorry, Charlie, I cannot go,
I'm far too busy workin'."

...
When I've figured out when the release date will be, I'll post a sneak preview of some of the wonderful artwork included in the book!
